Emergency Communications Officials Recognized

Commissioner Dohman with ECN Staff
Minnesotans are safer when first responders can clearly talk with each other and those in need.

Commissioner Mona Dohman recognized the great work of those who understand the technical side of 911 and radio communications.

She welcomed the 250 men and women attending this year’s Public Safety Interoperable Communications Conference.

Commissioner Dohman joined Assistant Commissioner Mark Dunaski and officials of the state Division of Emergency Communication Networks (ECN) which hosted the conference. Learn more about ECN.

Minnesota’s New Enhanced Driver's License (EDL)

Minnesota is now the fifth state to offer residents an optional Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) or Enhanced Identification Card (EID). Enhanced Commercial Driver’s Licenses are also available.

An EDL or EID is a dual-purpose card designed for convenience. It serves as a driver's license or ID, and also speeds re-entry to the U.S. by allowing a Minnesota resident to cross on land or in seaports when returning from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean. The EDL or EID verifies identity and citizenship; no other proof is required.

There are 14 DVS exam stations offering the card. Look under “Policies and Procedures.”
