State program fraud

Minnesota has many public programs in place to provide funding to make things like child care and pandemic recovery more manageable for businesses and more affordable for Minnesotans in need. But some bad actors seek to defraud these programs for their own personal gain. This depletes resources and deprives some Minnesota families of help they need.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Financial Crimes and Fraud section investigates state program fraud crimes involving:

  • Theft of public funds
  • Fraud against programs funded or administered by state government
  • Fraud committed against individual Minnesotans
