Governor's Budget Recommendations for DPS

Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan's Budget for One Minnesota provides important investments for disaster assistance, improving DVS customer service, supporting deputy registrars, support for human trafficking investigations, and more.

Responding To, Preparing For and Preventing Disasters and Emergencies

The proposed budget calls for funding for three Homeland Security and Emergency Management division programs aimed at keeping Minnesotans safe and communities resilient before, during and after emergencies and disasters. Gov. Walz detailed the funding requests in his Community Prosperity plan.

Preventing and Investigating Crimes

The Walz-Flanagan budget invests in efforts to reduce violent crime, attack the opioid epidemic and support local law enforcement agencies. Included in the budget is funding for the Minnesota Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force, which was formed by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
