IRP and IFTA audit

IRP/IFTA recordkeeping requirements

There are strict requirements under the agreements for the International Registration Plan (IRP) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) programs for maintaining distance and fuel records. Distance and fuel records are needed to ensure proper tax distribution among participating jurisdictions. The carrier and driver are responsible for maintaining vehicle distance trip reports. These  reports record every mile driven and every gallon of fuel put into the licensed power unit. This information must be recorded and organized by state or province.
