What is a Hunter Permit?

A Minnesota Traveler's Registration (Hunter) permit is issued to a truck owner-operator whose Minnesota IRP plates were surrendered to a trucking firm at the termination of a lease agreement.​ This permit can be obtained at the central IRP/IFTA office:

The permit is valid for 10 days and only when the vehicle is not carrying a load. The permit allows the vehicle to travel empty in Minnesota and other states while the owner is seeking trucking employment.​
