It explains broadband technology and why public safety can benefit from a dedicated wireless broadband network. It also reviews the Minnesota FirstNet Consultation Project objectives and timeline.

Additional Training

Alexandria Technical & Community College offers additional training opportunities for Wireless Broadband. Other modules include:
  • Wireless Broadband for Public Safety where students will learn basic terminology.
  • FirstNet LTE Technical Training where students will learn additional terminology and specifics around the FirstNet initiative.

More training modules are currently in development.

The DPS Emergency Communication Networks (ECN) division works closely with Minnesota Tribal Communities. Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Emergency Manager Monte Fronk joined Marcus Bruning from ECN to talk with other tribal emergency managers about FirstNet at the annual tribal communities meeting at the Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers conference. FirstNet is developing a nationwide public safety wireless broadband network designed to improve communications during a disaster.
