Information for families of homicide victims
After a homicide, survivors need support and resources to address their immediate and longer-term needs, as well as information on the investigation and prosecution process and their rights. It’s important for them to know that they are not alone. Victim advocates can help connect them to the investigating agency and the prosecutor’s office handling the case as well as to supports within the community. They can also assist victims with applying for financial help to meet immediate needs such as funeral, cremation, and burial costs, and longer-term needs such as loss of support and therapy.
