Curricula we recommend
Live It!
This curriculum is designed for youth ages 11-18.
Live It! is a teen pregnancy prevention and sexuality education curriculum. Designed for American Indians by American Indians, it is a culturally specific program for youth and the adults in their lives. It details the basic physiological and emotional development before, during and after adolescence, along with cultural, artistic, and self-reflective exercises. Contact Veronica Sanchez and Aaron Johnson at the Division of Indian Work to learn about how to implement the program and possible opportunities for a contract with them to provide the curriculum to students.
Live It! is funded by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Ripley Memorial Fund.
Strong and Resilient
Strong and Resilient is a four-session, human trafficking prevention curriculum designed specifically for Indigenous youth in Minnesota. The curriculum topics and activities are based on best practices of youth prevention programs, focused on:
- Respect
- Identification of grooming and exploitation
- Risk factors and vulnerabilities
- Knowledge about healthy and unhealthy relationships
- Exiting unhealthy relationships
- Rewriting negative narratives and building self-esteem
- Connecting participants with local cultural resources
The Strong and Resilient curriculum is developed by Anne Lafrinier-Richie. Contact anne.lr@someplacesafe.info for more information on training opportunities.
