Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)

Description of the program

The purpose of Minnesota’s Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program’s is to enhance public safety and reduce recidivism by supporting programs that improve outcomes for individuals involved in the criminal and juvenile justice systems.

Funding priorities are intervention initiatives and corrections or community corrections programs that address risk factors associated with criminal justice involvement, support successful reentry, and strengthen collaboration between service providers and criminal justice agencies.

OJP serves as the State Administering Agency for JAG and distributes these funds to support effective criminal justice initiatives across Minnesota.

Funding priorities are informed by the 2023–2028 Minnesota JAG Strategic Plan, which was developed through a statewide survey of criminal justice professionals and community members.
