Pathways to Policing Grant Program

Description of the program

Pathways to Policing funds programs to recruit and train law enforcement officers with nontraditional backgrounds. Pathways to Policing Grants may cover up to 50 percent of the cost of compensation, equipment and training at a Minnesota Professional Police Officer Education (PPOE) program. Pathways to Policing participants are expected to obtain state peace officer licensure within the grant period.

Who is eligible

Local units of government and Tribal Nations including county sheriff’s offices, police departments and tribal public safety agencies are eligible to apply for Pathways to Policing funding. A group of law enforcement agencies may collaborate on a joint application with one organization serving as the fiscal agency. Colleges and universities that operate law enforcement training programs are not eligible applicants.
