The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has identified the parties involved in an officer involved shooting incident on June 12 in Rushford, Minn.
- Rushford police officer Darin Daveau discharged is weapon during the incident. He has been in law enforcement for eight years, and is on standard administrative leave.
- Ibraheem Farah Hamza Khalifa, 35, of Rushford, was taken into custody at the scene. He is being held at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center and faces felony charges related to violations of a restraining order.
BCA crime scene personnel recovered a rifle at the scene. Neither the officer nor the subject were struck by gunfire.
Squad dashcam video captured portions of the incident.
The Fillmore County Sherriff’s office provided information about the incident on June 12. The Fillmore County Attorney filed charges against Mr. Khalifa on June 15 in Fillmore County District Court.
The BCA investigation of the use of force is ongoing. Once its investigation is complete, the BCA will turn its findings over without recommendation to the Fillmore County Attorney’s Office for review.
