ST. PAUL — Department of Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman has appointed Jeff Karrow to the Governor’s Council on Fire Prevention and Control. Karrow replaces Dennis Stark.
Karrow has worked at the Alexandria Fire Department since 1993. With Stark’s retirement at the Alexandria Fire Department, Karrow took on the roles of fire chief, fire marshal and city emergency management director. Karrow was certified as a Youth Fire Intervention Specialist in February.
Karrow has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Management Services from the University of Minnesota-Morris. Karrow’s appointment with the Governor’s Council on Fire Prevention and Control runs through December 31, 2018.
The 1969 Legislature established the Governor’s Council on Fire Prevention and Control with a mission to develop fire education, protection and prevention services for the citizens of Minnesota. The council is comprised of up to 15 members, who are appointed by the commissioner of Public Safety. Council members represent a diverse range of organizations, including fire safety professions and those affected by fire safety activities or regulations.
