Death Investigation Underway in Fergus Falls

ST. PAUL — The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified two persons found deceased in a Fergus Falls apartment late last night. Sarah Ruth Cheshire, 41, of 803 S. Woodland Drive in Fergus Falls, died of homicide due to a gunshot wound. Ryan Christopher Cheshire, 41, of 1447 Patterson Loop, apartment 103, in Fergus Falls, died of suicide due to a gunshot wound. The two were recently divorced.

Fergus Falls Police Department officers responded to a 911 call from friends of Sarah Cheshire about a person not breathing at Ryan Cheshire’s residence shortly after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6. When officers arrived, they located both Sarah Cheshire and Ryan Cheshire deceased inside the residence. The preliminary investigation indicates Ryan Cheshire shot Sarah Cheshire and then shot himself.

The Fergus Falls Police Department is being assisted with its ongoing investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
