Reward Increased to $5,000 For Information in Hit and Run Case
Motorcyclist Still In Critical Condition- Information Needed

GAYLORD — Family members are now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the vehicle and driver involved in a hit and run near Gaylord. The family of John Byro has increased the reward from $3,000 to $5,000 hoping someone will come forward and help resolve this tragic case.

On Thursday, October 27, at approximately 10 p.m. John Byro, age 29, was riding his motorcycle when he collided with an unknown vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 19 and Hwy 5. The driver left scene.

It is believed the unknown vehicle may be a light-colored passenger vehicle or SUV with damage to the rear or rear bumper.

Byro, who lives in Madelia, remains in critical condition at this time.

He had completed two tours of duty in Iraq. His family is grateful John made it home safely after serving his country.

John is in his third year of college at Metropolitan State University in the Twin Cities. He has been continuing his work in public service.  John is currently enrolled in the Law Enforcement program. His father, Dave Byro, says, “John is the kind of person people gravitate to. Everyone want to be around him.”

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Minnesota State Patrol, 507-389-1172.

Editor Note: Media may contact the family directly, John’s father, Dave Byro at 507-920-8923
