Suspect Sought in Early Morning Freeway Shooting
State Patrol Investigating Shooting on I-35E in St. Paul
ST. PAUL — The Minnesota State Patrol is looking for a suspect in an early morning shooting on I-35E in St. Paul. No one was injured in the shooting, reported shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday, but the victim’s vehicle was struck by a bullet in the rear driver’s side door.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-twenties, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with shoulder-length dreadlocks. The suspect was reportedly driving a white 2000s Dodge or Chrysler minivan.

A victim reported he was at a stoplight at I-35E and Wheelock Parkway in St. Paul when the suspect approached his work vehicle and began yelling. The victim continued southbound on I-35E and the suspect returned to his vehicle and followed the victim. The victim reports five to seven shots were fired at his vehicle near 35E and University Ave. The victim exited the freeway, parked in a public area and called police.

State Patrol investigators found evidence that the victim’s vehicle was struck by at least one bullet. Investigators are working to learn what lead to the incident, but they do not believe that it was “road rage.”

Anyone with information about the suspect or the suspect vehicle is asked to contact the State Patrol at 651-582-1509.
