ST. PAUL — A member of the Dalton (Minn.) Fire and Rescue Squad who responded to a June 23, 2015, double fatal crash in Ottertail County has been charged for allegedly taking money from a crash victim’s wallet.

Tara Kimberly Lindquist, 42, of 110 E. Main Street in Dalton, is charged with one misdemeanor count of Theft.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is conducting the theft investigation at the request of the Minnesota State Patrol since local law enforcement agencies were among those responding to the crash.

According to the criminal complaint, Lindquist was among the first emergency responders to arrive at the scene of the June 23 crash on I-94 in Ottertail County. Several days after the crash, a family member of one of the crash victims reported to investigators that they believed an undetermined amount of cash was missing from the victims’ wallets. According to the criminal complaint, Lindquist admitted to a BCA special agent that she took money from a billfold at the scene.

Zachary Kvalvog, 18, and Connor Kvalvog, 14, both of Moorhead, were killed in the crash. Mark Schwandt, 18, of Moorhead and Jimmy Morton, 18, of Jackson, Mississippi, were injured in the crash. The Department of Public Safety Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. That investigation is ongoing.

BCA is conducting the theft investigation with assistance from the Ottertail County Sheriff’s Office and the Ottertail County Attorney’s Office.
