Victim Identified in Becker County Death Investigation

ST. PAUL — The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the man whose death is being investigated in the rural Becker County community of Ogema. Richard Alan Baity, 41, of 33322 370th Street East in Ogema, died August 15 of homicide due to multiple traumatic injuries. How those injuries came about is part of an ongoing investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), the Becker County Sheriff's Office and the White Earth Tribal Police Department.

On Friday night at around 10 p.m. Becker County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a 911 call that an individual had been run over by a vehicle in the area of 370th Street East near Kay's Corner in Ogema. Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased male, now identified as Baity, at the scene.

Investigators determined that foul play may be involved and contacted the BCA for investigative and crime scene assistance. Investigating agencies continue the process of conducting interviews and gathering evidence. The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
