ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) activated the state emergency operations center (SEOC) on Thursday morning.
"The decision to activate the SEOC is in response to a wet spring and heavy snow pack, which are expected to lead to record flooding across Minnesota," said Mona Dohman, public safety commissioner.
Flooding has already begun in southern parts of the state. The National Weather Service will have an updated forecast Friday.
“The SEOC is opening to coordinate response to flooding. So, we can all work together to keep Minnesotans and our infrastructure safe,” said Kris Eide, HSEM director.
· The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reporting road closures in the south central Minnesota. Motorists are encouraged to visit www.511mn.org for a complete list of road closures in the area.
