TWENTY-FOUR ADDITIONAL MINNESOTA NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIERS AND AIRMEN ACTIVATED TODAY FOR FLOOD DUTY

ST. PAUL — Sixteen Soldiers from the Moorhead-based 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry (2-136 CAB) are scheduled to arrive today in Marshall County.  Their mission is to assist with dike patrol and emergency evacuation in that location.

The Duluth-based 148th Fighter Wing is sending its Joint Communications Platform trailer with support personnel to Moorhead.  The JCP provides satellite uplink, telephone, radio, data and wireless capabilities in the event power is lost due to the flood.

The Minnesota National Guard will continue to stand alongside of neighbors and friends to fight back the flood.

Under the direction of the Governor, the Minnesota National Guard will continue to provide necessary resources to support civil authorities responsible for the state's emergency management plan.
