Course Description

This 4-hour course is for true novices who want hands-on instruction with motorcycle controls before taking the Basic Rider Course.

MMSC's Introduction to Motorcycling courses are offered at the White Bear Lake.

Designed for the true novice who would like a hands-on introduction to motorcycle controls and their operation before taking the Basic Rider Course.

The course is not a pre-requisite for the Basic Rider Course, but it may benefit students who do not have experience using a clutch.

There are no written or skills tests for this course.  

Eligibility Requirements

Riders must furnish their own protective riding gear:
  • DOT-approved helmet

  • Eye protection

  • Long sleeves

  • Long pants

  • Full-fingered gloves

  • Riding boots

Students are strongly encouraged to bring rain gear –– courses run rain or shine.
Students must be at least 15 years old and possess either a valid driver's license or driver's permit. Parents of those under age 18 must sign a consent/release form prior to on-cycle instruction.
Courses run April through September. Participants must sign up in advance.
Note: This course uses MMSC training motorcycles only –– student motorcycles are not allowed.
