Moped Course

Designed for Beginning Moped Riders

Course information

MMSC Moped Courses are offered at 30 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
 
 
The classroom-only moped course is an introduction to riding. Riders will earn a moped course completion card.
 
Course is required for those who do not have a driver's license, are at least 15 years of age, and wish to ride a moped on the street.

Eligibility Requirements

This course meets state requirements for a moped permit and license.

  • Participants must be at least age 14 to enroll.

  • 14 year olds may take the course, but they must wait until they are 15 years old to apply for the motorized bicycle permit.

Note: A person holding a valid driver’s license may legally operate a moped without a moped permit or license. Cancelled, revoked or suspended drivers are not eligible to obtain a moped permit or license.
