May 2021 training update

I am really looking forward to State Fire Marshal Division (SFMD) trainings this summer and fall because there are a wide variety of opportunities and ways to attend. We are offering eight classes in May alone and 15 total between now and September.

The National Fire Academy (NFA) classes had very strong turnouts in March and April, and we are offering two more in May. There will not be any more provided until September 2021. We are working on bringing the Leadership Series and Incident Safety Officer and Fire Investigation here in 2022.

Virtual training classes continue to be a huge success, with 90 people on average attending each session. The feedback has been phenomenal, and people are asking us to continue these even as things get back to normal. We have no plans to stop, and are scheduled through June with topics and presenters.

Youth Fire Prevention and Intervention classes are in the works for summer. Stay tuned for more information.

Training for licensors and inspectors of DHS-licensed facilities is right around the corner. Many of these sessions are full for licensors, but the inspectors' course still has several seats available. Marketing for this course is set to go out next week, so if you're interested in attending, now is a good time to register and beat the rush.
