Documenting fire protection work
Fire protection-related work experience must be documented to establish eligibility for the Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter and Managing Employee (Trade Portion) Examination.
Hours of experience
- Managing employee candidates
- Payroll record documenting at least 10,000 hours
- Journeyman sprinkler fitter candidates
- Payroll record documenting at least 8,000 hours and attested to by the managing employee
- Pension reports documenting at least 8,000 hours of fire protection-related work
- Insurance benefit statement documenting at least 8,000 hours of fire protection-related work
- Managing employee candidates
- Payroll record documenting at least 8,000 hours and attested to by the owner of the company
- Payroll record documenting at least 8,000 hours and attested to by the owner of the company
Completion of Sprinkler Fitter Program
- Journeyman sprinkler fitter candidates
- Copy of your certificate of completion
- Statement of your completion from state or federal approval agency
Certification by National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies
- Managing employees and design contractor candidates
- Copy of your NICET certification documenting the appropriate level of certification
Licensed Engineers
- Managing employee candidates
- Copy of your engineering license issued by the state of Minnesota
