Training
General information
The State Fire Marshal division offers classes year-round for inspectors, investigators, building design professionals, contractors and others. Classes are scheduled based on requests from fire departments, state agencies, companies and individuals. Instructors are members of the SFM division with successful track records in teaching adults.

Latest training opportunities
Oil and Hazardous Substance Transportation Awareness

This training will focus on important safety considerations related to oil transportation via rail and pipelines.
The cost of this class is reimbursable from the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education through a special rail and pipeline training fund.
Hazmat: The First Hour
This training focuses on safety considerations related to the transportation of hazardous materials through your community and the response of State Emergency Response Teams.
This training is designed for fire, police, sheriff, EMS and community officials. The class is free of charge and provided by State Fire Marshal Division Staff. Learn more about the training
