The purpose of the Legislative Committee is to advise the Statewide Emergency Communications Board on all matters related to legislation and government affairs that have the potential to impact the board, its members and users of the public safety communications systems across Minnesota.
The Legislative Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month at 10:00am. Meeting materials must be submitted to the Board's coordinator no later than 10 days prior to the meeting.
Minutes will be posted when they approved by the board. Minutes are reviewed during the meeting immediately following any meeting of the board for which minutes are taken; e.g., minutes taken for the May meeting will be posted in June, and minutes taken for the June meeting will be posted in July.
1) Preserve the integrity of the 911 fund for only those items listed in statute.
2) Support making the sales tax exemption language for joint powers boards and special taxing districts to be effective July 1, 2016 rather than January 1, 2017.
3) Support the Governor's Border-to-Border Broadband initiatives.
4) Track any bills on how MN.IT may conduct business with local and state government agencies.
The February meeting has been cancelled. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, March 3 at 10:00 a.m. by conference call.
