ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is investigating a use-of-force incident involving the Pine County Sheriff's Office. It happened just before 2 p.m. in Pine City. Deputies were attempting to apprehend a man wanted on a felony warrant. At one point, deputies fired their service weapons, striking and injuring the subject. They provided medical treatment at the scene until the subject was taken to an area hospital for treatment where he is in critical condition. This investigation is still in the early stages. The deputies were wearing body cameras. The BCA will release more information pending further investigation.
