BCA releases identity of man found deceased in St. Louis County jail

June 26, 2025

ST. PAUL — The adult male found deceased in the St. Louis County Jail early Wednesday morning has been identified by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office as Keith Jrome Taylor, 56, of Duluth.

According to the preliminary investigation by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Taylor was found unconscious and unresponsive in his cell by detention deputies during routine inmate checks on the morning of June 24 at approximately 9:30 a.m. Staff immediately removed Taylor from the cell, provided life-saving care and called for emergency medical personal to respond. Attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful and Taylor was pronounced deceased.

The BCA’s preliminary investigation did not find any obvious signs of trauma on Taylor and his cause of death is pending.

The BCA agreed to investigate the death at the request of the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. This investigation is ongoing and no further details are available.
