Temporary Schedule Changes at Worthington Area Exam Stations
September 28, 2022
ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) division is making temporary changes to exam appointment availability at the Windom, Luverne, Pipestone and Slayton exam stations due to staffing issues.
What does this mean for customers?
- DVS has temporarily reduced exam appointment availability at each of the Worthington satellite locations from one day per week to one day per month. As soon as staffing levels return to normal, DVS will begin increasing appointment availability.
- DVS recognizes that this change results in a reduction of service levels and may require individuals to travel further for an appointment.
- DVS remains committed to ensuring exam services are delivered at these locations. DVS has reached out to all customers whose appointments have been impacted by this change to ensure their appointment can be honored.
- Even with the temporary staffing issues, DVS does have appointments currently available in the region. Those who need to schedule or cancel an appointment can visit drive.mn.gov or call 651-284-1000.
Customers should check back often as appointments open up every week and there are cancellations.
“Having convenient access to driver and vehicle services is important for Minnesotans in every corner of the state," said DVS Director Pong Xiong. “We are no exception to the staffing shortages that have affected every industry across the country. We know how stressful and disappointing this temporary change is for our southern Minnesota customers. We are diligently working to hire more staff to remedy this temporary inconvenience."
DVS will be posting the open positions at the Worthington Exam Station via the Minnesota careers website soon. Residents in the area are encouraged to apply.
