Safe and Secure partners

The State of Minnesota is committed to keeping our communities safe. Our goal is to get a gun lock into the hands of every Minnesota gun owner who doesn't already have one.  Since 2022, the Department of Public Safety has given away over 100,000 gun locks through our Minnesota Safe and Secure partners. 

“Make Minnesota Safe and Secure" is an initiative spearheaded by Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan to ensure every firearm across Minnesota is safely and securely stored. Why? So they don't land in the hands of curious kids or would-be thieves.
