FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant programs provide funding opportunities for pre-and post-disaster mitigation. While the statutory origins of the programs differ, all share the common goal of reducing the risk of loss of life and property due to natural hazards. HSEM administers the HMA disaster programs.

The Notice of Interest (NOI) is the first step in the application process for HMGP, BRIC and FMA grants. Please contact hazard.mitigation@state.mn.us for more information or to request a NOI.

Submitted NOIs received by the deadline will receive primary consideration. We will continue to accept NOIs after that date for future funding opportunities. Priority will be given to applications that address climate change, equity, and nature-based solutions.
