​The Department of Public Safety is committed to providing services to the public that meet the highest possible standards of integrity and professionalism. We rely upon you to inform us if our employees' conduct does not meet these standards. To make a complaint, please contact DPS' Internal Affairs/Affirmative Action (IA/AA) Division using the contact information below.

Please see this list of frequently asked questions​ about our complaints and investigations process. 

Between April 1 and Dec. 31, 2023, the average time for IA/AA to investigate a complaint and provide DPS division leadership with recommended findings was 97 days. 

IA/AA will update the average time in mid-April 2024 to include investigations completed between Jan. 1​ through March 30, 2024.

In-person: IA/AA is open by appointment Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is located separately from other DPS divisions. Please email dps.ia@state.mn.us to schedule an appointment.
