Victim Notification

​Incarcerated Person Information and Release Notification

In Minnesota, victims of violent crime have a right to be notified of the pretrial release of an incarcerated person from a county jail or local detention facility. Although this notification takes place automatically, victims are also encouraged to register with Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) to ensure timely and reliable notification. VINE is not limited to victims as anyone can register for release notification..  >More on VINE

After a Conviction

 

To receive custody status change notification following conviction, victims must make a request to wherever that incarcerated pers​​on is housed, either a county jail or Department of Corrections (DOC) facility.​

INTERSTATE COMPACT:

 

A person convicted in Minnesota and on probation or parole can have their supervision transferred to another state under the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision (ICOTS). To find out if this has occurred, search using the person's name or state offender ID number on the ICOTS Public Web Portal.  ​
