It's a Freeway, Not a Raceway
Every road has a posted speed limit indicating the safest maximum speed. Exceeding the safe speed puts everyone sharing the road in danger. Too many people are learning this lesson the hard way. Speed kills. Please, let's all slow down.A Speeding Ticket Will Tailgate You For Years
A speeding ticket will typically cost at least $110. Fines double when speeds exceed 20 mph over the limit. If speeds reach 100 mph, your driver's license may be suspended for 6 months.
- Citations could cost $100 or more plus court fees.
- Increased insurance fees.
- A motor vehicle crash involving speed could result in criminal or civil penalties.
The Dangers of Illegal and Unsafe Speeding

- 75 people were killed in speed-related crashes in 2019.
- During the 100 deadliest days (Memorial Day – Labor Day) in 2020, speed played a role in 50 fatalities (preliminary figures).
- In 2019, speed was a contributing factor in 26 percent of single-vehicle crashes.
