The Police Chief is responsible for all facets of providing public safety services to the Minnesota cities of Centerville, Circle Pines, and Lexington and ensures the effective and efficient integration of services based on the combined needs and requirements of the cities. The position exercises direct supervision over the Lieutenant/Administration, the Lieutenant/Operations, and the Office Supervisor. The Police Chief reports to the Operations Committee made up of the three city administrators.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in police administration, law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field, Master’s degree preferred, and ten years of progressive experience as a licensed police officer, including three years in a command position. Equivalent education and experience will be considered. Advanced work at the FBI National Academy or similar executive management institution is a plus. Appointment of successful candidate is contingent upon Minnesota POST licensure. Experience building effective working relationships and strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Qualified candidates will demonstrate creative leadership, initiative, and knowledge of emerging best practices in public safety.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
