• Patrols and observes the community in order to detect and deter criminal activity and provide a sense of security and well-being to the community;
• Prepares clear and accurate reports in accordance with department polices;
• Prepares and executes warrants, makes recommendations for criminal complaints and presents testimony as required in court.
• Investigates criminal violations and offenses as appropriate;
• Responds to medical emergencies and provides basic first aid;
• Provides appropriate information to public;
• Assists in making public presentations at schools.  May perform specialized work in record keeping, juvenile, child abuse and neglect, D.A.R.E., investigation, and/or narcotics when directed by supervisor.
• Acts as a resource person within the department, providing information for long and short term departmental goals and objectives, as well as police-related tactical concerns;• Performs other assigned and self-initiated law enforcement and service tasks, all under the general supervision of the police lieutenant or assigned supervisor;
• All other duties as assigned.

Per the current contract, the salary range is $20.00-$24.85 per hour.
There is additional compensation for court time and a uniform allowance.
There is a 4 year step program to the top of the pay scale. After top pay is reached, the City offers incentive pay every 5th year up to 20 years, each at a rate of 3% per the current contract.
