The City of Waite Park could have up to five openings for Police Officer within the Police Department. With these five positions, we are seeking candidates to fill Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer (SRO) and or Investigator assignments. The SRO and Investigator assignments are appointed by the Police Chief after being hired to the position of Police Officer. To be assigned to these positions, additional experience would be preferred, and additional information about the assignment is provided below. The pay range for Police Officer is $28.55 to $38.33 per hour. Police officers with experience will be able to negotiate lateral entry into our agency. Our health insurance package is one of the best in the state. Health insurance premiums are completely covered by the city and an HSA is partially funded as well. This adds an extra $26,400 to the entire package, which still does not completely illustrate all the benefits provided.Our officers currently work 10 hour shifts generally with five days on, and four days off. This schedule allows for all officers, regardless of seniority, to have every other two weekends off to enjoy with their family and friends. Our agency attempts to make a priority of having updated equipment such as new laptops, FLIRs on squad cars, and SMART phones to name a few. Our General Investigator and School Resource Officer currently works a Monday through Friday 0800-1600 shift to align with the needs of the department and local schools.; The General Investigator assignment focuses on the more serious persons and/or property crime cases along with crime scene processing and drafting search warrants. SRO you will provide law enforcement services to 4 schools within the City of Waite Park. Our Investigator and SRO work hand in hand with neighboring agencies to coordinate responses and the SRO assignment may also include assisting the General Investigator with larger investigations. Other potential assignments could include SWAT, K9, FTO, and various instructor level positions. The assignment of General Investigator and School Resource Officer provides an additional monthly stipend of $150. It is not necessary to be POST eligible to apply but applicants must be POST eligible at the time of appointment.
