General Duties:
The Police Officer position performs non-supervisory, patrol and police work in support of law enforcement, crime detection/prevention and investigation, traffic control, emergency response, and public assistance activities.  Responsible for minimal administrative functions; assists with some educational and safety programs in public schools; and provides law enforcement at community functions.  Majority of time is spent responding to calls to enforce laws and patrolling to protect the property and serve the residents of the community.
Minimum Requirements:

Metro Transit has its own licensed police force committed to the safety of its customers and employees, serving eight counties and 85 cities in the region.  There are approximately 141 full-time officers, 60 part-time officers, 20 community service officers and 12 administrative staff dedicated to one thing: public safety on and near our transit system.
As a Metro Transit Police Officer, you will protect and serve Metro Transit employees, passengers, equipment and property. Transit Police Officers ride buses and trains as well as patrol along bus routes, METRO Blue Line (Hiawatha), METRO Green Line (Central Corridor), and the Northstar Line. Transit Police Officers also inspect fares on the Blue Line, Green Line and Northstar trains and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes.

After year 1 -- $29.65 hourly / $61,672 annual

After year 4 -- $37.96 hourly / $78,757 annual
