​The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office is now accepting lateral/merit transfers for Deputy Sheriff. To transfer, you must currently be employed as a full-time licensed peace officer. For lateral transfers, the hiring process is streamlined for current officers and allows you to bring your sick leave with you. 


As a Ramsey County Deputy Sheriff, you'll perform law enforcement work such as patrol, investigations, and apprehension; security and custody; court security; civil legal process; crime prevention and community outreach; and, other duties as assigned. The salary range for Deputy Sheriff is $58,000 to $85,000 annually, plus overtime. The current union contract allows a starting salary of up to $35.80/hourly or $74,474/annually. The Sheriff's Office also has off-duty employment opportunities as well as several overtime openings throughout the year. After three years of service, Deputies are eligible for promotion to Sergeant ($98,000 annually, plus overtime).
