Apply for Peace Officer Licensing ExamS

The Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST Board) is accepting applications for those requesting to take the POST Board Licensing Examinations.  The POST Board has contracted with Pearson Vue, a company that administers Computer Based Testing (CBT) at numerous sites located throughout Minnesota and selected sites throughout the United States.  Pearson Vue offers candidates multiple options relating to examination dates, times and locations.

Pearson Vue requires applicants have POST Board approval before being allowed to schedule their examination.  A registration fee of $60.00 is paid directly by the applicant to Pearson Vue. This is a separate fee and is not included in the $105.00 examination fee that is paid to the POST Board. After completing the examination, Pearson Vue will notify applicants of their unofficial examination result, pass/fail.  Applicants will receive follow up communication from the POST Board confirming their official examination result.

The application process has been modified to allow online testing.

Applicants wishing to take the Peace Officer Licensing Examination, Reinstatement Peace Officer Licensing Examination, and Retake Peace Officer Licensing Examination should continue to use their on-line POST Board account to submit their application and fee.  If you do not have an on-line account, instructions for creating an account can be found at https://dps.mn.gov/entity/post/Pages/online-services.aspx .  Applicants will receive communication from the POST Board confirming their application was received.  After approval, applicants will receive separate communication confirming their approval to take the examination and information relating to registering and scheduling an examination date at a Pearson Vue site.

Applicants wishing to take the Peace Officer License Restoration Examination should contact the POST Board at 651-643-3060 to request an application.  Applicants will receive communication from the POST Board confirming their application was received.  After approval, applicants will receive separate communication confirming approval to take the examination and information relating to registering and scheduling an examination date at a Pearson Vue site.

Applicants wishing to take either the Peace Officer Licensing Reciprocity Examination or Peace Officer Licensing Military Reciprocity Examination will continue to submit a paper application and supporting documentation to the POST Board.  The application form and information relating to requirements for approval can be found at https://dps.mn.gov/entity/post/exams/Pages/default.aspx.  Applicants will receive communication from the POST Board confirming their application was received.  After approval, applicants will receive separate communication confirming approval to take the examination and information relating to registering and scheduling an examination date at a Pearson Vue site.
