Driver's License Fees

All fees include a $1 technology surcharge (except those asterisked***) - Reference: Minnesota Statutes, section 171.06.

Effective January 1, 2014, the driver’s license filing fee, which pays for the costs of the services provided in the driver’s license/ID card issuance process, increased from $5 to $8, as required by Minn. Stat. 171.061, HF 1444, Chapter 117. Fees listed below include this increase.

Note: Driver's License or Identification Cards will be processed within three (3) business days. Customer should receive the card via UPS (United Parcel Service) within 10 business days. Refer to the DVS Office Locations Map to see participating offices.

Effective July 1, 2012 Minnesota’s $1.75 Technology Fee, applied to many driver and vehicle services transactions for several years to help pay for Driver and Vehicle Services technology upgrades, will be reduced to $1. Thus, several driver and vehicle transactions will reflect a new fee.
