Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE)
For Inmates in County Jails or Local Detention Facilities
VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is a free and anonymous service that provides victims of crime two important features: custody status information about inmates in county jails and custodial facilities, and notification to victims of an inmate’s release.
Individuals can call the VINE number or go online to
VINELink to check an offender’s custody status. Information is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Minnesota VINE includes information about inmate custody status and location, scheduled release

information, offender identification number (if searched by name), contact information for custodial institution, and referral information for victims.
Individuals can register to be notified of an offender’s release by phone, email, or both. Registered users will be immediately notified upon a change in an offender's status, including transfer, release, escape, or death of an inmate.
Anyone may use the Minnesota VINE service to determine the custody status of an offender. Callers will need either a touch-tone telephone or Internet access to use the service.
The telephone service is available in English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali and is supported by 24-hour live operator assistance. Assistance in other languages is available through the AT&T translation service.
VINELink, the online service, is available in English and Spanish.
When the inmate’s status changes, VINE automatically sends an email, text message, and/or call to all registered persons. Calls continue for 48 hours or until a successful notification is verified with the registered person's Personal Identification Number (PIN).
