The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s (BCA) investigations division provides additional investigative services and tools to help facilitate investigations and response.
- Alerts issued by the BCA – The BCA offers a variety of alerts to help law enforcement agencies draw attention to abductions, missing persons, injured officers and other situations.
- Digital media examinations – Experts are available to examine digital evidence to assist investigations.
- Eyewitness identification procedures – The BCA has tools and resources to ensure sound procedures and greater accuracy and reliability in your lineups.
- K-9 resources – BCA has K-9 resources available to assist agencies in searching for firearms-related items or electronic devices.
- Minnesota Duty Officer Program – This program provides a single answering point for local and state agencies to request state-level assistance.
- Mobile monitor permits – BCA investigations processes permit applications for people, firms, political subdivisions and or corporations using radio equipment capable of receiving a police emergency frequency.
- UAV resources – The BCA offers drone services to local agencies for aerial or unmanned visuals assistance with investigations.
- Cell tracking assistance – BCA agents with a warrant provide cellular tracking services to assist local agency investigations.
