Criminal justice information integration history
Minnesota’s criminal justice information integration efforts began in the early 1990s when the legislature created the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Policy Group and Task Force to oversee criminal justice information policy. The legislature also adopted an effort, known as CriMNet, to identify and address information gaps. The effort continued to evolve, and the legislature implemented the current Advisory Group structure and duties in 2023.
These steps, along with the efforts of agencies and organizations across our criminal justice system, have led to significant improvements to what data is collected and how it’s shared.
