Curios and relics; special firearms reports

Minnesota law requires that dealers, manufacturers and owners machine guns and short-barreled shotguns file reports with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).

Dealers and manufacturers of machine guns and short-barreled shotguns must complete and submit a Monthly Dealer Manufacturer Report when they manufacture or obtain such a firearm.

People who own or possess a machine gun or short-barreled shotgun in Minnesota must file this ownership or possession report. The Superintendent of the BCA will determine whether the gun can be lawfully possessed in this state.

All manufacture, transfer and ownership/possession of machine guns and short-barreled shotguns in Minnesota is also regulated by federal law and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives rules.
