Disciplinary action appeal process
If you face disciplinary action on or after October 1, 2023, you have the right to appeal the disciplinary action determination.
How to appeal disciplinary action
1
Submit your written appeal request
- You can submit an appeal request in writing to Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) within 30 calendar days of receiving written notification of the disciplinary action.
- The written appeal request must include the requirements specified in the DVS disciplinary action appeal request form.
- Failure to meet these requirements will result in the request being returned to the individual without review.
2
DVS review
- DVS will review each request to ensure compliance with the requirements outlined in the DVS disciplinary action appeal request form.
- If the request is incomplete, DVS will return it to the individual for completion.
3
DVS evaluation
- DVS will evaluate each request along with the audit file.
4
Notification
- DVS will respond in writing to the appeal request.
- If a system suspension was imposed before DVS received the appeal request, it will be paused during the appeal review process.
- The effective date of the disciplinary action will be determined by DVS upon completing the appeal review and issuing the final decision.
- Any potential misuse during the appeal review period may result in additional disciplinary action.
- In severe cases, DVS may decide that an individual cannot access the DVS information system during the appeal review period.
