Ignition Interlock Device Program (IIDP)
The Ignition Interlock Device Program enhances public safety by giving eligible alcohol or drug offenders the option of having an ignition interlock device installed in their vehicle.
Participating in the program ensures safe and legal driving, as well as allowing eligible alcohol or drug offenders to drive during the withdrawal period.
Ignition interlock device
An ignition interlock is a small device with a camera that is installed in a vehicle to measure an individual’s alcohol concentration level. It's installed near the steering wheel and connected to the engine.
When a person blows into the device their alcohol concentration level is detected and a photo is taken. If the device detects alcohol, the vehicle will not start.
