Vehicle registration temporary permits
Temporary registration permits are issued when a license plate is not available.
Minnesota residents may be issued a 60-day permit. Non-residents may be issued a 31-day permit.

If you are a Minnesota resident, you are issued a 60-day temporary permit when a vehicle has been purchased at a Minnesota licensed dealer or when applying for a new license plate type at a a deputy registrars office.
The permit must be affixed to the rear of the vehicle where the license plate is normally mounted.
