Crash response statistics
The table below shows the total number of crashes that Minnesota State Patrol troopers responded. The data, listed by year, includes information from all patrol districts.

Crash reconstruction statistics
The metro crash reconstruction unit has five troopers who investigate serious and deadly vehicle crashes full-time. They mainly work in the Twin Cities area, but travel to other parts of the state if needed. In greater Minnesota, 35 crash reconstruction specialists work part-time on reconstruction duties. They handle other regular trooper duties as their main job.

Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) statistics
The State Patrol uses UAS specifically for reconstructing crash scenes. The UAS, also called drones, can quickly collect evidence and help clear the roads faster, which means fewer secondary crashes. They also provide superior evidence collection abilities. UAS deployments are reported to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension yearly.
