Capitol Security officers provide safety and security to executive, judicial and legislative officials, state employees and members of the public on the Minnesota State Capitol complex.

Capitol Security is the primary responder to all emergencies and events at the State Capitol complex. Each year there are more than 700 events held on the State Capitol complex. These events are scheduled via permit through the Department of Administration. Capitol Security is responsible for safety, security, and law enforcement at these events. The size of these events has ranged from a single demonstrator to more than 400,000 people.

Capitol Security Officers work alongside Minnesota State Troopers to ensure the safety and security of 20 state buildings, 24 parking facilities, eight memorials, six parks and open malls, the more than 15,000 employees who work on the Capitol Complex, and the thousands of guests and customers who visit the complex daily.

Operations Center

The Capitol Security Operations Center is the central hub for the operation of the state buildings and all emergencies that occur within its jurisdiction. The Operations Center monitors security cameras and intercoms located throughout the State Capitol complex in high-security and public areas.
