Child and Restraint Systems (C.A.R.S.) training
Find C.A.R.S. classes at Developtoolmn.org.
When searching for trainings, use keyword C.A.R.S.
Prior to transporting children under age 8, you must satisfactorily complete at least a three-hour training on the proper use and installation of child restraint systems. This training must be provided by instructors certified and approved by the Office of Traffic Safety and be repeated every five years. Classes do not need to be taken in the same county where you are licensed. The C.A.R.S. training curriculum is approved by the Office of Traffic Safety.
We are transitioning from the C.A.R.S. program to the Basic Education for Safe Travel (B.E.S.T.) program. C.A.R.S. will be valid through December 2024. Visit the Minnesota Safety Council to learn more about the transition.
