There are different fees associated with different types of background checks.

For an FBI check¹, which includes a fingerprint check of Minnesota and FBI criminal histories, the fees are: 

• General (examples include Security Guard, Child Protection, and more) – $32 ($15+$17) 
• Charitable Non‐Profit² or Volunteer³ – $23 ($8 + $15) 
• Charitable Non‐Profit⁴ or Employee – $25 ($8 + $17) 

For a Minnesota background check the fees are: 

• Self (Minnesota only) – $8.00 
• Charitable Non‐Profit⁵ (Minnesota only) – $8.00 
• General/Statutory (Minnesota only) – $15.00 

There is also a Fingerprinting Service Fee of $10.00 per card.

Notice regarding bounced checks

A $30.00 service charge will be added for all dishonored checks. You may also be subjected to a civil penalty of $100.00 or 100% of the value of the check, whichever is greater, plus interest and attorney fees. This is allowed under Minnesota Statute § 604.113.
