Homicides, missing persons and cold cases

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has agents available to assist local agencies with major case investigations including homicides, missing persons and cold cases. Contact the BCA at 651-793-7000 for assistance with your agency’s investigations.

  • Homicides – BCA homicide agents are stationed at our St. Paul headquarters, Bemidji regional office and most of our 13 field offices.
  • Missing persons - BCA agents, analysts and other staff are available to assist agencies with missing persons investigations including providing investigative and analytical assistance as well as help issuing alerts for missing, endangered missing or abducted people.
  • Cold cases - BCA agents and analysts work with local law enforcement agencies on cold case homicide investigations. Agents work the cases in the communities and jurisdictions where they live and work every day, utilizing knowledge of the local community and the latest in forensic advancements to solve these cases.

The BCA also partners with multiple state, federal and local entities including the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Office, the Missing and Murdered Black Women and Girls Office and other task forces and organizations.
