ST. PAUL — A 19-year-old man with no permanent address faces several felony charges following a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) investigation into a shooting that occurred in Minneapolis last November.
Jovan Joshua Knight was charged by the Hennepin County Attorney with three felonies for assault with a dangerous weapon, riot with a dangerous weapon, and being in possession of a firearm after previously being convicted of a crime of violence. Knight also faces charges in several other pending cases.
Knight was arrested on Feb. 19 after Minnesota State Patrol troopers attempted to stop his vehicle for speeding near I-494 and Hwy 5. Troopers pursued Knight's vehicle across the metro when it failed to stop. State Patrol flight located Knight after he fled on foot in Minneapolis. Troopers and MPD officers took Knight into custody and booked him into the Hennepin County Jail.
The BCA assisted the MPD in the investigation as part of an ongoing partnership to address violent crime. Details about the investigation are contained in the criminal complaint.
