If the sale occurs on or after July 1, 2023, the sales tax is 6.875% of the purchase price of the vehicle unless the purchase is exempt from sales tax or qualifies for one of the following in-lieu taxes:
- $10-In-Lieu Tax – Charge on passenger vehicles, ten model years or older, when the purchase price and fair market value is under $3000. If the fair market value or purchase price is $3000 or more, the vehicle does not qualify for this in-lieu tax.
- $150-In-Lieu Tax – Charge on passenger class vehicles and fire trucks that are registered in a collector class.
When transferring a motor vehicle, Registration Tax must be at an unexpired status.
If the sale occurs on or after July 1, 2023, the sales tax is 6.5%
